Candlelighting Music
Boston DJ Questions / Answers
Here are some questions you may have just before your event.
Most Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do we need to meet with the EMCEE before our event?
A: Usually it is not necessary. Upon speaking with our Event Coordinator you will be assured that your party is in great hands! Our coordinators will convey the intimate details to your Emcee and team members. If you still desire, we can have your Emcee call you after we have gone over and reviewed your final arrangements.
Q: How many candles are there for the candle lighting ceremony?
A: Generally there are 13 candles, with one extra for good luck. It is O.K. to have more, but we suggest that you do not exceed 14 candles. Your candle lighting should not last more than 20 minutes so please keep the poems short.
Q: What is the proper arrangement of candles?
A: The customary order is as follows: Memory candle (if any) followed by grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, family friends, honorees friends, siblings, parents and finishing with a good luck candle for our Guest of Honor.
Q: What songs should I select for those distinguished guests lighting candles?
A: There is definitely a trick to candle lighting ceremonies. How many times have you gone to someone's event and the candle lighting ceremony brought down the energy of the entire party? The best way to have a memorable ceremony is to select upbeat music, and write poems that are humorous and fun.
Q: Can we request a song that is not on your list?
A: Yes, simply indicate the title and artist of the song and we will do our best to satisfy your request. Sometimes, our clients supply us with copies of additional music selections.
Q: When are the blessings and toasts performed?
A: The blessing over the bread is performed after the grand entrance, preceded by the candle lighting ceremony. The toast is typically done after the first course, following a traditional Guest Of Honor dance. This may vary, depending on your caterer and venue.
Q: What is the grand entrance?
A: The Grand Entrance, a customary part of your festivities, is made by the entire family. The Guest of Honor will enter last, accompanied by the Pure Energy dancers. Different variations can be discussed when we finalize your party.
Q: Can we request a particular dancer for our party?
A: Yes; however we do charge an additional $150 for requested dancers. Our dance coordinator will do his or her best to honor all requests prior to casting. Please keep in mind our performers are scheduled based on availability. Customarily, we select the dancers we feel will best compliment your affair.
Q: How will the dancers be dressed for my party?
A: The Pure Energy Dancers are dressed in black formal club wear. Most of our clients prefer that we blend in among their guests. The dancers’ talent will allow them to shine. However, upon your request, thematic costuming can be provided for an additions cost.
Q: What role do the dancers play in the cocktail hour?
A: The Pure Energy dancers enter your cocktail hour with contagious excitement. This gives them the opportunity to get the youngsters excited and ready to party for the rest of the event!
Q: Can you provide a pianist for the cocktail hour?
A: Yes, the embellishments of our live musicians will give your party an elegant flare. Very often when the adults and children are in separate rooms during the cocktail hour, our clients request either a pianist or trio for the adults and DJ music for the children. It is also very entertaining to have the musicians accompany the DJ during the reception.
Q: Can you provide any other band members to play during our event?
A: Yes, with “Pure Energy Live” we can combine a disc jockey and a band together. Our four-piece band consists of percussion, saxophone, lead vocalist and conga section. This show is choreographed with precision timing and includes as much of the live band as you request.

If not, you must allow us ample time to set up.

Q: How do you handle the dessert service?
A: We will make the announcement that dessert is served. However, this usually takes away from the party. We do not recommend a sit your guests down dessert. We only recommend dessert stations.
